At Diss Primary Academy Partnership we pride ourselves on our inclusive approach.

Children who have additional needs are identified  we then work with parents, carers and external agencies to remove barriers.  All our learning environments are carefully constructed to be supportive and consider cognitive load.  Additonal intervention and support is used to enable equality of access. Please see our SEN&D statement for 2023 and our SEN&D Policy for more details.

Welcome to Our School!

We want every child to be happy and do their best. We work with families to give children the right help as early as we can. This guide explains how we support children who might need extra help with their learning or other things.

Who Can I Talk To?

If you're worried about your child, we are here to listen. These are the main people who can help:

  • Mrs Peters: She is in charge of special educational needs (SEN) support.
  • Mrs Cerullo: She is the Executive Headteacher.
  • Miss Burch: She helps children with their feelings and worries.

How We Help Children

We try our very best to help children in all kinds of ways. This includes help with:

  • Talking and making friends.
  • Learning and understanding things.
  • Feelings and behaviour.
  • Physical or sensory needs (like seeing or hearing).

We find out if a child needs extra help by listening to parents , watching how they learn in class , and talking with their teacher.

Every class has a teacher , and some classes have Teaching Assistants (TAs) who help children in small groups or one-on-one.

Working With You

Your thoughts are very important to us.

  • We will meet with you at least three times a year to talk about your child's progress and set new targets.
  • We listen to what you and your child have to say.
  • Our school has an open-door policy, so you can always make an appointment to talk to us.

Moving to a New Class

When your child moves to a new class or school, we make sure it's a happy move.

  • The old teacher and the new teacher will talk to each other.
  • Your child will get to visit their new classroom and meet their new teacher to help them feel comfortable.
